The Quality Manager is responsible for oversight and compliance with quality requirements in the areas of food safety programs, raw material, in-process quality control, finished product evaluation, internal audits, GMPs, sanitation, pest control, and all other related quality matters.

The role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, strong communication and collaboration skills, the ability to interpret test results against limits and standards, and the ability to lead a small team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise process inspections and QC team, managing workload, manpower, task delegation and validation
  • Develop and maintain site standard quality procedures, work instructions, form-controlled documentation and training records
  • Lead customer complaints, nonconformance and assessment investigations and corrective actions
  • Communicate with external customers for reporting, complaints, product deliveries and general QC inquiries
  • Responsible for ensuring that the product manufactured meets the Company’s finished product quality and safety expectations, as per customer and legal requirements
  • Coach, train and lead the Quality Control Team to ensure Quality and Safety is maintained throughout the process
  • Present customer complaint analysis to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Oversee Quality Retain sample management
  • Maintain a sound working relationship with other departments to ensure no interruption in business
  • Evaluate, modify, and design sanitation policies and procedures to ensure product quality and integrity
  • Create, maintain, and reassess written sanitation procedures that will effectively accomplish the task of always ensuring product safety
  • Provide guidance and leadership to develop a high-performance team
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through proper training and enforcement of all company policies, procedures, and processes
  • Manage performance issues, including performance appraisals, training, and corrective actions
  • Create and perform internal audits of the manufacturing processes to ensure capabilities and expectations are met
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with implementing the FSQA manufacturing process
  • Great attitude and a willingness to learn under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people and personalities
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency with MS Office
  • Self-motivated and detailed-oriented
  • Strong listening and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment

Education and Experience

  • Post Secondary diploma / degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a food manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant people leadership experience
  • Experience writing SOPs and implementing in a manufacturing environment
  • Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially regarding product specifications
  • Must have shift flexibility to provide support to all Team members
  • Above average interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Above average time management and comprehension skills
  • The ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
