SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.
We are seeking an Intermediate Hydrogeological Modeller .
Description of Responsibilities :
The position will be part of the Groundwater Group, focusing on groundwater modelling backed by a strong understanding of geology and field data collection. The candidate will support other needs of the hydrogeology, mining, geochemistry, and engineering groups. Responsibilities include :
- Understanding, applying, leading, and reviewing sound modelling practices for physical flow, contaminant transport, pore pressure distributions, and uncertainty analysis.
- Participating in mineral resource studies, from preliminary economic assessments to feasibility studies, permitting studies, operational support, and research programs related to the mining industry.
- Characterizing hydrogeological systems, conceptualizing, and constructing 3D numerical models of groundwater systems.
- Developing conceptual models in coordination with geochemists, structural geologists, and geotechnical engineers.
- Conducting hydrogeological, hydrological, or geotechnical field work.
- Developing inputs to water and load balance models and estimating pit or underground inflows.
- Contributing to engineering designs and interpreting data on constructed remediation systems.
- Interacting closely with hydrogeology and other discipline team members from junior to principal levels, managing tasks and junior staff to achieve project goals and timelines.
- Preparing reports and presentations for internal or external audiences.
Minimum Qualifications :
A minimum of a master's or higher degree in geology, geological / civil engineering, or physical geography, with emphasis on geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental engineering, and geotechnical (rock) skills.At least three years of consulting or mining experience, preferably among the disciplines listed.Technical proficiency in groundwater numerical modelling (finite difference and / or finite element – FEFLOW preferred).Proficiency in coding and statistics.Experience with or proficiency in 3D geological modelling software (Leapfrog preferred).Self-motivated with a desire to work both as part of multi-disciplinary teams and independently.Able to work long hours in the field, tolerating remote and variable weather conditions.Excellent oral and presentation skills.Professional registration in BC or current eligibility to obtain it.Valid driver’s license valid for use in Canada with a good driving record.Currently eligible to work in Canada.In return for considering a future with us, we offer :
