Your Opportunity
Our Ottawa, Waterloo, and Markham offices are looking for a highly motivated Senior / Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our growing, multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include the design of electrical systems covering power distribution, essential and life safety systems, lighting, power system studies, construction administration, preparing proposals and working closely with team members, project managers, internal and external clients, contractors and suppliers. Your Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for assisting or leading overall project electrical design; prioritizing quality while meeting deliverable deadlines, monitoring project scope, and adhering to project budgets.
- Assist in leading project coordination meetings with internal team members and / or external consultants, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Participate / Lead client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
- Support or lead technical sections of assigned proposal pursuits.
- Develop and manage project scope, budget, design approach, staffing and schedule for projects of varying sizes and complexities in coordination with the project manager.
- Evaluate, select, specify, and design applicable electrical engineered systems or products required for the project, ranging from 120V to 44kV.
- Support or lead the development of electrical design deliverables such as single‑line drawings, elementary and wiring diagrams, equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment), power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, system studies and protective relay settings.
- Support or lead in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats including 3D design tools.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines within the project team to facilitate development of deliverables.
- Lead or contribute to the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction support documents.
- Contribute to our culture of continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned.
- Local travel within the National Capital Region for site inspections and client meetings.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Self‑starter with experience navigating engineering design concerns and developing project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimating and project proposals.Thorough understanding of design standards and codes for electrical power systems.Knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering design principles.Familiar with design and operation of power systems ranging from 120V to 44kV.Experienced in interpreting and applying the requirements within the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and Ontario Building Code.Experienced in managing and leading electrical projects from the pursuit phase through design and construction.Team player, collaborator with interpersonal skills and experience in managing and coordinating people.Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and aptitude for problem solving.Experience in managing multi‑discipline projects and / or pursuits is an asset.Familiarity with AutoCAD is an asset.Experience and proficiency using ETAP, SKM and / or EasyPower is an asset.Experience working with Revit and BIM exposure is an asset.Proficiency in verbal and written communication in French is considered an asset.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario (or eligible for registration).License to practice engineering in Quebec is considered an asset.Electrical design experience in low, medium and high voltage, systems lighting, power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, communications and security systems is considered an asset.Experience with industrial building design is considered an asset.About Stantec

Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Some roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
