Hunter Dickinson Inc. (HDI) is looking for an experienced, hard-working, self-starting Resource Database Geologist who works well in an existing accomplished team and is excited about growing with a strong exploration and development company.
Based in Vancouver, the Advisor | Resource Database Geology will report to HDI’s Vice President of Resources & Database. Working in a dynamic environment at an exciting growth stage for HDI, the successful candidate will be an integral and valued member of the team. This individual will be responsible for providing resource and database support and geological assistance to existing and future exploration and development projects; importing, sample custodianship, and QAQC of exploration data as required.
Specific responsibilities include :
- Resource and Database Management, Geological Compilation and Report Writing
- Assist with the management and maintenance of mineral exploration and mine databases,
- Compile and QA / QC geological and geochemical data,
- Management of sample custodianship and liaising with laboratory staff,
- Acquire, enter, input, transcribe, reformat, and import data into various digital formats,
- Assist and lead in the production of technical reports,
- Provide reports and digital compilations for exploration, development, and management staff,
- Provide geological assistance and technical support for exploration and development projects,
- Participate and contribute to special projects and other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience.
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in geology or equivalent in a related field,Minimum of five years in mineral exploration or mining with field experience preferred,Registered professional with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or similar,Professional competencies applicable to the position,An understanding of mineral exploration data acquisition practices, procedures, and QA / QC,Entry to intermediate knowledge of SQL is highly preferred,Proficiency using exploration and database software, acquisition, management and modeling tools, including for example DataShed, LogChief, Seequent products including, MX Deposit, QGIS, Vulcan, Datamine, etc.Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)Experience working with large and diverse geological and geochemical data sets.Ability to communicate at all levels and manage multiple tasks.Preference will be given to candidates based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
