Qualifications : Essential :

  • An undergraduate degree or the equivalent management experience and training or other forms of education
  • A thorough understanding of federal, provincial, municipal and First Nations governmental structures, reporting relationships and jurisdictional delineation
  • Experience in providing advice to senior management in government
  • Experience in representing senior levels of management in inter-agency and multi-sector collaborative forums
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direction, on complex policy issues
  • The incumbent must have proven working relationships with the law enforcement, intelligence, and justice communities in Manitoba and have a working understanding of the law enforcement, intelligence, and justice communities in other jurisdictions

Desired :

  • Knowledge of government financial policy
  • Experience dealing with the public and providing information on public safety initiative
  • Ability to respond on the Minister’s behalf to inquiries from inside and outside government on any matter related to law enforcement

Duties : Director Contract Policing

Reporting to the Executive Director of Policing Services and Public Safety, the incumbent acts as the Senior Manager for Contract Policing which includes responsibility for contracts with the federal government for RCMP services, contracts with individual municipalities for RCMP services, and First Nations.

The position is responsible for managing, developing and implementing the agreements with the objective of ensuring that all Manitobans receive professional, effective, consistent policing based on standards set out in the new Police Services Act.

Director Municipal Policing

Reporting to the Executive Director of Policing Services and Public Safety, the incumbent acts as the Senior Manager for Municipal Policing which includes responsibility for municipal policing, including agreements for funding, oversight of municipal police services and independent First Nations police services.

The position is responsible for managing, developing and implementing policies with the objective of ensuring that all Manitobans receive professional, effective, consistent policing based on standards set out in the new Police Services Act.

Director, Safety Officer Programs

The Director, Safety Officer Programs leads the development, implementation and support of Manitoba Safety Officer Programs.

This includes the First Nations Safety Officer, Community Safety Officer, and Institutional Safety Officer programs.
