We are seeking a full-time Director of Finance to join our management team in either our Saskatoon or Regina office. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple priorities. They will lead financial initiatives that support the Firm’s strategic objectives in financial management, profitability, and compliance.
The Opportunity :
- Manage and oversee staff performing trust and general accounting, payment, billing and collection functions.
- Establish and maintain financial internal control policies and procedures.
- Prepare accurate and timely reporting of month and year end closings.
- Coordinate and manage annual reviews with external audit firms.
- Process staff, lawyer and partner compensation payments, benefit administration and tax, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all third‑party remittances, audits, reviews, reporting, and compliance are completed accurately and on time, including but not limited to Law Society, tax authorities, financial institutions and insurance providers.
- Develop, monitor, and review all firm budgets and forecasts.
- Provide advice on financial implications of business activities.
- Participate in development and evaluation of strategic financial goals.
- Develop key financial, operational and special project reports and analysis to drive profitability, quality improvements and efficiency.
- Provide input on selection of financial systems; lead implementation, training and operations.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies to reduce cycle times, improve quality, reduce and control costs, and implement approved change programs.
Key Qualifications & Attributes :
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.Expert‑level proficiency in Excel; familiarity with law firm accounting software considered an asset.10+ years of progressive experience as a Controller or Director of Finance.Proven leadership with demonstrated success managing accounting staff.Ability to lead by example, establish credibility, and deliver on commitments.Any offer of employment may be conditional upon a full background check, including a criminal record check, a credit check and employment and educational verification.
