WHO WE ARE
ONE KIDS PLACE Childrens Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Position: Occupational Therapist

Location: Nipissing
Effective: ASAP until January 2026 with the possibility of extension. We welcome applicants interested in a full-term contract as well as those seeking a locum or shorter-term opportunity to assist with service delivery coverage.
Status: Unionized
Job type: Contract, Full Time 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
*To ensure we can meet the needs of our communities at times that work best for them, our staff are expected to maintain flexibility in their schedules, which may include working outside standard business hours as per client needs.*

POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist provides assessment, treatment, transition and discharge support to assist children and youth to achieve their optimum rehabilitation potential in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. Note that clinical supervision of therapy assistants, as well as family and community partner education will be important components of all positions.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Provides quality family-centered care through assessment and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
  • Utilizes therapeutic techniques / modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy.
  • Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Childrens Treatment Centre and College standards. Maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the child/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff, and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Works with the child/youth, family and/or other caregivers to identify specific treatment/intervention and design appropriate daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or development of new skills for the child/youth and family.
  • Provides clinical supervision within the disciplines scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students.
  • Provides equipment recommendations / prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services, both internally within the CTC and externally to community partners.
  • Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, and community partners through the development and implementation of education programs.
  • Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs preferred
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka, and Parry Sound
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario drivers license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred
  • ADP authorizer is an asset
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE : Lergothrapeute assure lvaluation, le traitement, laccompagnement la transition et le soutien la sortie afin daider les enfants et les jeunes atteindre leur plein potentiel de radaptation en matire dautonomie, de productivit et de loisirs. Il est noter que la supervision clinique des assistants en ergothrapie, ainsi que la formation des familles et des partenaires communautaires, constituent des composantes importantes de tous les postes.


FONCTIONS DU POSTE:

  • Offre des soins de qualit axs sur la famille, grce des programmes d'valuation et de traitement, afin d'aider les enfants et les jeunes optimiser leur fonctionnement en matire d'autonomie, de productivit et de loisirs.
  • Utilise les techniques et modalits thrapeutiques ncessaires la prestation des services.
  • Consigne les activits et la charge de travail lies aux clients conformment aux normes du Centre de traitement pour enfants et du Collge. Garantit la confidentialit et le respect de la vie prive des clients.
  • Communique efficacement et assure la continuit des soins en prenant des dcisions thrapeutiques en troite collaboration avec l'enfant, le jeune et sa famille, les autres membres du personnel de radaptation et les autres fournisseurs de services communautaires, au sein d'une quipe interdisciplinaire.
  • Collabore avec lenfant/le jeune, sa famille et/ou les autres personnes qui en prennent soin afin didentifier un traitement/une intervention spcifique et de concevoir des activits et des programmes quotidiens adapts.Laccent peut tre mis sur la prvention, le maintien et/ou le dveloppement de nouvelles comptences pour lenfant/le jeune et sa famille.
  • Recommande ou prescrit du matriel et/ou oriente les enfants/les jeunes vers les services appropris, tant au sein du CTC qu lextrieur, auprs des partenaires communautaires.
  • Assure la supervision clinique, dans le cadre de sa pratique professionnelle, du personnel de soutien dsign et/ou des stagiaires.
  • Sert de personne-ressource et d'ducateur auprs des enfants, des jeunes, des familles et des partenaires communautaires par l'laboration et la mise en uvre de programmes ducatifs.
  • Poursuit son perfectionnement professionnel continu.
  • Autres tches assignes.


QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Matrise en ergothrapie
  • Inscription en rgle auprs de lOrdre des ergothrapeutes de lOntario
  • Deux ans dexprience pertinente en milieu pdiatrique ou de soins de sant auprs denfants et de jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers (un atout)
  • Capacit de travailler au sein dune quipe interdisciplinaire
  • Bonne connaissance des ressources et des services communautaires offerts dans les districts de Nipissing, Muskoka et Parry Sound
  • Excellentes aptitudes interpersonnelles et organisationnelles
  • Excellentes aptitudes la communication orale et crite
  • Permis de conduire de lOntario valide, preuve dassurance et vhicule fiable
  • Matrise de linformatique et capacit dadaptation aux logiciels pour les valuations, la documentation, la programmation et la communication
  • Bilinguisme (anglais/franais) (un atout)
  • Le statut dautorisateur du PAAF est un atout
  • Preuve de vaccination contre la COVID-19 (selon les exigences du secteur)
