Our client, a leader in fastening and assembly solutions is looking for a talented tool and die or tool and die apprentice (minimum level II) registered with the ministry) to join their team.
Summary of Responsibilities :
- Maintain existing dies and perform changeovers.
- Ability to fabricate dies and tools and rework the same die for production requirements.
- Interact between tool room, production, engineering, quality, and other departments.
- Participates in Pre-Planning and design of new tooling, tool refurbishment, end of life tooling and capacity tooling as required.
- Participate in tooling design and print review meetings and project overview meetings.
- Planning and layout work according to models, blueprints, drawings or other written or oral specifications.
- Understand the working properties of common methods and alloys.
- Select appropriate materials, tools, and process required to complete a task.
- Use of various tool and die maker tools and precision measuring instruments while working to very close tolerances.
- Able to evaluate and repair dies to bring parts into specifications and troubleshoot problem dies.
- Work closely with production personnel, EDM, machine set-up operators, ensuring dies and tooling are performing to desired specifications.
- Documentation of all information and procedures that have been established in reference to individual tools (i.e. logbooks) and update drawings.
- Set-up and service of all tool room and other related equipment.
- Experience with tooling design and planning lay-out is a great asset
- Ensure work area is clean and well maintained.
- Actively participate in area 5S and other department team Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines. Following company policies and procedures.

- Must be registered in an approved apprenticeship program minimum Level II.
- Must have completed the required number of hours of Level II.
- Ability to complete classroom instructions when scheduled.
- Ability to read blueprints and other die support documentation.
- Experience with and the ability to use standard and specific tool room machinery, including but not limited to,
drill presses, die wash stations, grinders, mills.
- Able to adapt, multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to work through continuous improvement.
- Follow all IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 procedures.
- Completion of mechanical aptitude test with a passing grade.
- Acceptable attendance and performance record will be taken into consideration.
- Preference will be given to applicants with post secondary education.
- Proof of registration by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
