Job Description

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our teams located at any one of our Canadian offices with preference for Calgary, AB, Moncton, NB, Kitchener, ON. Join our vibrant and rapidly expanding team across Canada where you’ll tackle complex energy projects from initial concepts to detailed engineering. As a Lead Project Engineer , you’ll be at the forefront, leading projects in a client‑facing role, collaborating with various disciplines to ensure we exceed our project goals. Your responsibilities will span project planning, scheduling, estimating, risk assessments, proposal submissions, and more. Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and estimate design engineering effort on projects from conception to issue of all drawings and specifications for construction.
• Assist in the development of proposals.
• Prepare and / or review cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and elements of project design.
• Develop project strategy to ensure key issues are identified early and to ensure project goals of quality, schedule, and cost are achieved.
• Interpret project specifications and scope to all engineering disciplines.
• Review and approve all designs to ensure conformity with project specifications, project scope, company practices, and sound engineering practices.
• Provide coordination to discipline and support development of their deliverables.
• Prepare and update engineering control documents.
• Monitor design changes, contract extras, and support development of change orders.
• Serve as the main technical contact with the client.
• Make recommendations on highly technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.
• Complete feasibility studies and technical report writing.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers in the development of their skills and training.
• Mentor other engineers within the project engineering team.
• Provide professional designation on projects you are engaged in.
• Develop technical drawings and deliverables such as P&IDs, Line List & DBMs and authentication of deliverables.
• Develop Scope of Work or Specifications for Mechanical Packaged Equipment.
• Maintain quality control and quality assurance on projects.
• Review the work of others.

Benefits

Salary range (in British Columbia) : $113,500–$156,000. The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
