Linux Administrator – High-Performance Computing Environment (Montreal-Based)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to join a collaborative technology team based in Montreal, responsible for managing and scaling high-performance compute and storage systems. This role is ideal for a Linux expert with a strong focus on on-premises and bare-metal environments, who is passionate about ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will oversee the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of Linux-based infrastructure, with a focus on optimizing performance for compute and storage systems. You will troubleshoot complex issues, ensure smooth operations of critical infrastructure, and collaborate with a highly skilled team to support the organization’s technical and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Linux operating systems, particularly RHEL and similar distributions, across bare-metal infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues related to compute and storage systems.
  • Optimize system performance and scalability in an on-premises environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.
  • Drive improvements in system reliability, monitoring, and configuration management practices.

Your Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years as a Linux System Administrator / Engineer.
  • Extensive experience with Linux systems administration, specifically RHEL.
  • Strong understanding of bare-metal compute and distributed storage systems.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving challenging hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization in high-demand environments.
  • Proficiency in configuration management tools and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
