What You Will Be Doing : An Internal Linguist is an employee whose linguistic skills have been certified as part of the hiring process and who prioritizes translation / proofreading / quality management tasks for various types of documents depending on Production needs and in accordance with his / her subject matter expertise.

This includes using reference materials, understanding instructions, proactively suggesting linguistic and procedural changes, and ensuring quality for client delivery.

An Internal Linguist takes responsibility for a specific account, working closely with the client / ICR and other linguists.

An Internal Linguist is also responsible for assisting PMs with the creation / update of preflight material, glossaries, amending translation memories, and providing support in client calls and meetings.

French (Belgium) into English translationUnderstand TransPerfect’s quality standards and make sure they are upheld to meet the client’s expectationsProperly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client PAQ, reference material, glossaries, etc.

• making sure they are consistent throughout the jobsConsult with Project Coordinators / Managers to discuss the client’s expectations and be able to understand the instructions provided to meet the client’s expectationsKeep Project Coordinators / Managers informed of project progress and communicate effectively with themProvide feedback for project-specific non-conformances, resolutions and quality of the file reviewedTranslate / review various types of documents on subject matter expertise, ensuring that : -the instructions and directions are followed;
• final documents mirror the original source documents faithfully; -the quality is ready for client delivery (without grammar, punctuation and spelling errors)Ensure correct style and tone of translated documentsBe accountable for any errors / omissions associated to a project in which s / he is involvedEnsure sign-off of end productBe proactive on the creation / update of glossaries or other reference material that might improve the final quality of the jobEfficiently maintain formal disciplined operations procedures across a variety of client projectsPersonally perform project QA stepsAssist with making new department processes while improving the existing onesMaintain translation memoriesEstablish and maintain excellent relationships with contract translators and proofreaders globallyWork on preflight materialComplete all other tasks as assigned by a ManagerOrganize the daily workload effectivelyBe flexible with changes of priorities and adaptive to a fast-paced work environmentPrioritize translation / proofreading / quality management / copywriting / transcreation / SEO-SEM / MT post-editing and any other relevant task depending on Production needs Take part in calls and meetings with the client to gather feedback in direct contact to enforce the relationship with the clientProvides administrative or technical support at an intermediate levelMay be involved in the training of new team membersWith the support of the team sponsor, working on all services that the linguistic department offers Getting certified for other fields of expertise and other types of work (translation / proofreading)Works under moderate supervision of the Team Lead / a more senior member of the team.

May seek the advice of senior personnel in the functional area Requires weekly monitoringQualifications : Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English in addition to working languagesCultural knowledge in both target and source language(s)Flexibility and adaptability to the different assignments and tasks using the relevant skills and tools in each case (accuracy, creativity, terminology adequacy, etc.

Ability to effectively multitask in order to simultaneously execute multiple projectsOrganization skills. Able to prioritize.
