Project Coordinator / Project Manager – Mechanical / Automation Engineering (Automotive Tooling Equipment)
We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator or Project Manager with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering or Automation Engineering to support complex tooling projects within the Automotive Manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth expertise in body-in-white systems , trim , and final assembly systems , along with a hands-on understanding of automotive tooling equipment . This role requires proactive involvement in project planning , vendor coordination , and on-site installation and commissioning .
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee and coordinate all phases of automotive tooling projects , focusing on mechanical design , mechanical assembly , and automation systems
Manage detailed project schedules , track progress using Microsoft Project , and provide status updates to stakeholders
Lead vendor coordination , schedule and execute equipment buy-offs , and ensure alignment with critical project milestones
Deliver technical support during the installation and commissioning of tooling systems at customer facilities, including the Ford Oakville site
Prepare and maintain project documentation , including progress reports , project deliverables , and coordination with cross-functional engineering teams
Travel regularly between Michigan and Ontario to support vendor meetings , equipment inspections , and on-site implementation
Qualifications :
Proven experience in project management or project coordination within automotive manufacturing , industrial automation , or mechanical systems integration
Strong foundation in mechanical engineering , with practical knowledge of mechanical design and mechanical assembly
Working knowledge of electrical systems , industrial controls , or automation equipment
Proficient in Microsoft Project , project tracking tools , and general project documentation
Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with vendors , engineering teams , and production personnel
Ability and willingness to travel frequently, especially between Michigan and Ontario
