Job Description

Our client, a leading real estate company focused on creating exceptional residential communities across Canada is seeking a Senior Accountant, Corporate Reporting to join their team.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days on-site (Tue-Thu).

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Prepare and assess account reconciliations and detailed variance analytics.
  • Document journal entries, including those for month-end, eliminations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee and approve journal entries completed by junior team members.
  • Execute month-end and quarter-end closing tasks.
  • Coordinate closely with the internal US team during month-end and quarter-end closures, conducting thorough result reviews.
  • Contribute to the creation and formatting of corporate financial statements and supplementary disclosures.
  • Generate and evaluate financial statements and additional financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Aid in the establishment of new joint ventures and securitization transactions, where applicable.
  • Enhance and document month-end procedures and workbooks to ensure the precision of financial reporting.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Support special and ad hoc projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • CPA certification or currently pursuing CPA designation.
  • Possessing 3+ years of experience in either industry or a firm (Big 4 background preferred).
  • Familiarity with either IFRS or US GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Previous exposure to consolidation and elimination entries is preferred.
  • Experience in residential real estate is considered a valuable asset.
  • Demonstrating initiative, capable of working autonomously in a dynamic environment.
  • Exhibiting meticulous attention to detail and maintaining high standards of work quality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self motivated, displaying a strong work ethic and eagerness to acquire new knowledge.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
