Southbridge Care Homes are currently looking for an energetic enthusiastic Director of Care to provide leadership to the Nursing Team at our Home.

This individual will ensure our residents receive quality care, a safe place to live and ongoing, respectful communication.

The eligible individual will enhance the effective management of quality nursing practices in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies, internal policies, and standards of care.

  • We are looking for a Director of Care that is passionate about working in long term care. Duties and Responsibilities Leads in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management initiatives related to resident care needs and the Home;
  • Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level; Ability to meet budgetary goals (budget restraints);
  • Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies; Collaboratively works with various members of the team to accomplish goals;
  • Presents an active presence / mentoring staff and overseeing the provision of quality care; Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety;
  • works with WSIB claims and return to work plans (preferred); Able to initiate investigations / CIS’s / follow up with staff / families initiated to ensure risks are identified / addressed with interventions / documentation updated / ongoing diligence with Home / MOL is completed as per the regulations;

Assumes responsibility for the nursing department; Is knowledgeable concerning the MOH Regulations and the FLTC Act. Other duties as required.

Qualifications Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.

A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors. Demonstrated experience with WSIB management and other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.

Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies is an asset. Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.

Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
