How You Will Make an Impact

Emmanuel House Hospice is a ten-bed palliative care facility located in Hamilton that offers a home-like environment for individuals who are nearing the end of their lives.

Support and care are provided in a team-based approach, including various interdisciplinary team members such as personal support workers, nursing, physicians, spiritual and psychosocial support.

We embrace a person centered holistic model of care and the importance of providing individuals dignity at the end of their life.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • BCLS certificate required
  • Experience working with individuals and their families in the end of life or with a life limiting illness
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work with evidence-based practices related to pain and symptom management and end of life care are required
  • Previous palliative care experience either in hospital based palliative care, hospice or other healthcare settings with knowledge of the death / dying process
  • Ability to work as a member of an intradisciplinary team
  • Enhanced Fundamentals of Palliative Care is an asset (completed or actively pursuing) an asset
  • Resourceful problem-solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent time management and ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional continuing education
  • Excellent attendance record required
  • Committed to anti-racist / anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
