Engineering Systems Specialist – Durability

Full‑Time in office role based out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
This position focuses on diagnostics and root‑cause analysis of durability issues captured in the Halifax Durability Test. It involves communication and follow‑up with business units outside of Honda Canada, including R&D Design Engineers, Factory Engineers, Market‑Quality Engineers, and Parts Suppliers. The role also includes case‑by‑case research activity requiring specialized training and basic knowledge of data‑logging systems and automotive forensic analysis. Background knowledge of Canadian corrosion markets and fundamentals is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Automotive Forensic Analysis : coordinate with drivers and technicians to deeply understand vehicle issues and causal parts / systems; communicate with factories / designers to understand system‑design details.
- Conduct Root‑Cause Analysis; coordinate with Factory / Suppliers / Designers to share parts / information and conduct cause analysis.
- Durability Mode Monitoring and Refinement – monitor test‑mode accuracy and acceleration via coupons and other measurement techniques.
- Test‑Vehicle Inspection and Record‑Keeping : perform regular scheduled thorough inspections of all test‑vehicles and maintain a data‑storage format that facilitates access by factory and R&D members.
- Facilitate and Execute Research Activity : perform as‑needed activity based on the needs of Ohio / Japan R&D members conducting research in Canada; ensure all tools / equipment / scheduling are available to complete successful research.
- Market Research : conduct continuous market research relating to deicing agents, weather, vehicle condition for corrosion durability assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Post secondary education required – University Degree – Mechanical / Materials / Chemical Engineering or College Diploma in Automotive Technology / Engineering preferred.P.Eng (preferred); Automotive Technicians License Preferred.2+ years in an automotive related field.Experience at an OE automaker or parts supplier.
Experience in an engineering or similar role.Strong communication skills (Japanese fluency would be a significant asset).High proficiency in MS‑Office Suite / SharePoint / Teams.Generally strong computer skills.Experience with automotive data‑logging equipment.Honda Canada Inc. is committed to providing accommodation in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, upon request.
