Civil Estimator

Job Title : Intermediate / Senior Civil Estimator - Underground Utilities

Location : Vancouver, BC

Salary Range : $100,000 - $140,000 plus bonus

Job Type : Full-Time

Must Haves :

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in civil estimation with a focus on underground utilities.
• Proficient in using estimation software, specifically HeavyBid.
• Demonstrable experience with Bluebeam for plan reading and takeoffs.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills to interpret project specifications and blueprints.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice to Haves :

• Project Management experience, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Certifications such as a Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) or similar.
• A robust understanding of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to construction and underground utilities.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility projects by analyzing plans, engineering drawings, and other documentation.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information to inform accurate estimates.
• Coordinate with the project management team to provide project support as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and ensure compliance with company standards as well as federal and state regulations.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for cost-effective solutions.
• Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
