Shift Coordinator | Registered Nurse

Position Overview

Interior Health is looking for a Casual Shift Coordinator to join the team at the Kootenay Lake Hospital, located in Nelson, BC.

The Shift Coordinator will primarily support the Emergency Room, Medical, and Maternity units, spending their day assisting with complex patient situations, coordinating transfers between facilities, managing staffing needs, and acting as the hospital supervisor after hours.

Shift Type : Days and Evenings, rotating : 06 : 45 to 14 : 45 & 14 : 30 to 22 : 30. Days off : Rotating.

Responsibilities

• Practice in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Coordinate patient placement, bed utilization, and staffing during weekends, evenings, and night shifts.
• Act as a clinical resource to staff in resolving problems regarding patient care, staffing levels, and bed utilization.
• Ensure excellence in patient‑centered care throughout the hospital on assigned shift.
