Responsibilities
- Plan, allocate, and review work programs; update forecast weekly and align with project demand.
- Communicate with the Department Design Lead for designer resources and man‑hour estimates.
- Prepare weekly progress reports for each project.
- Update the project schedule weekly, marking completed tasks and identifying potential delays.
- Establish scopes of work, man‑hour estimates, schedules, and priorities for projects or proposals.
- Schedule and expedite department work.
- Supervise an engineering team involved in the conception, planning and development of engineering design, projects, proposals and estimates.
- Provide leadership and mentorship, acting as a focal point for design expertise and direction.
- Guide the discipline team through to completion in accordance with the schedule and budget on major projects of high technical complexity.
- Assist in negotiating critical engineering issues.
- Administer planning, scheduling, cost control and technical conformance to the design.
- Attend status meetings with clients, project management and suppliers.
- Coordinate activities with other departments and clients.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards.
- Assign and review work of discipline engineering staff.
- Review vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Vista Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable codes and requirements.
- Approve discipline deliverables and support the implementation of design standards, checklists and procedures.
- Actively steward change management for discipline activities.
- Support discipline man‑hour estimates for proposals.
- Provide construction support and authenticate documentation with a professional engineering stamp where required.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
Ten‑plus years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science.Ability to work within a multidisciplinary and collaborative team.P.Eng. registration with APEGA.Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail.Self‑motivated and efficient time management.Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.Ability to meet safety requirements for site visits.Preferred Qualifications
12 years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five years in the energy industry.Three or more years of experience leading an engineering team in an EPC environment.Benefits
