The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) plays a pivotal role in driving the success of our organization by aligning human capital strategies with business objectives.
SHRBPs will collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and implement HR initiatives that attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities will include providing strategic HR guidance on performance management, rewards and recognition, recruitment and retention, talent management, succession planning, and inclusion and diversity.
You will drive employee engagement initiatives and contributing to the overall success of our organization through innovative HR solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Talent Management & Workforce Transformation
- Working with HR Centres of Excellence (CoE) partners, develop integrated talent strategies and solutions to support the business in acquiring, developing, and retaining the best talent to meet current and future business needs and help them in tackling their top talent priorities.
- Support leaders in building the workforce of the future and enabling team performance.
Strategic HR Planning
- Demonstrate passion about partnering with business leaders to build a client focused culture supported by the right employee capabilities.
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships senior leadership, team members, CoE and employees.
- Collaborate and partner with business leaders to understand organizational objective and provide strategic HR guidance.
Define talent problems and hypothesize, test and build solutions
HR Planning & Integration
- Plan and coordinate the delivery of annual corporate HR initiatives related to Performance Management, Talent Planning, Base Pay and Incentive Pay to ensure the needs of client groups and corporate HR are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Anticipate and plan for future human capability needs by analyzing and interpreting workforce information, reviewing results of employee surveys and discussing top of mind issues and concerns with business and HR leaders.
- Reinforce appropriate application of HR policies, standards, and procedures to ensure alignment with organization’s vision, missions, and to ensure adherence with legislative requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- HR Expertise : In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations including talent management, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and employment law.
- Business Acumen : Understanding of business operations, goals, and strategies to align HR initiatives with organizational objectives.
This includes financial literacy and the ability to analyze data to inform HR decisions.
- Strategic Thinking : Capability to develop and implement HR strategies that drive organizational growth, employee engagement, and performance improvement.
- Relationship Management : Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, managers, and employees.
This involves effective communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Change Management : Proficiency in leading and managing change initiatives within the organization, including restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, or organizational culture shifts.
- Leadership : Ability to lead and develop HR teams, mentor junior HR professionals, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical Skills : Proficiency in using HR analytics and metrics to assess HR programs' effectiveness, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Ethical and Legal Compliance : Adherence to ethical standards and knowledge of legal compliance requirements related to HR practices, policies, and procedures.
- Problem-Solving : Capability to analyze complex HR issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience.
- Adaptability and Resilience : Flexibility to navigate a dynamic and changing business environment, adapt to new technologies and methodologies, and remain resilient in challenging situations.
Education, Designations, Training, and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources is required.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) is preferred.
- Ongoing professional development and training in areas such as leadership, strategic HR management, change management, diversity and inclusion, and HR analytics are beneficial.
- Training in relevant software tools and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) can enhance technical competencies.
- Typically, 8-10+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience in diverse HR functions such as talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and HR compliance is important.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic HR planning, business partnership, and leading HR initiatives that drive organizational goals and employee engagement is crucial.
- Experience in managing HR teams, mentoring junior HR professionals, and collaborating with senior leadership is preferred.
Office Location : Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office and Business Banking Centres as needed.
This is a hybrid work opportunity.
Meridian has a remote work policy that allows flexibility for employees to work remotely but also requires a minimum of semi-monthly regular time in the office for purposeful meetings to collaborate, innovate and build effective relationships with your team, your colleagues and your leader which is important to us.
