Associate Scientist, Mass Spectrometry (18 month contract)
AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic.
We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives.
We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.
We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our Analytical Development team and contribute to the development of platform analytical methods for use across the analytical functions in Process Development.
This will include both the development and qualification of analytical methods. You will help to establish both highly resolving methods to support QC lot release as well as high throughput methods to support process development activities.
How you might spend your days
- Performing MS instrument calibration and instrument maintenance
- Designing, developing and, when necessary, qualifying LC-MS-based analytical methods in support of bioprocess development activities (cell line development, upstream / downstream process development, pharmaceutical development)
- Performing routine analyses of samples in support of monoclonal antibody process development
- Managing MS-based analytical requests through Electronic Lab Notebooks
- Communicating within and across organizations to align methodology and share analytical findings
- Researching and evaluating technological advances in the field of analytical chemistry
We’d love to hear from you if
- You continue to be inspired by working with teammates and partners to bring innovative medicines to patients, and are known for your attention to detail, timelines and creative thinking
- You have a BSc in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with 2-5 years of experience or MSc with 0 to 2 years of experience in an academic or industry wet lab environment
- You have experience working in areas of therapeutic protein characterization in either academia or industry
- You have proven technical ability to execute and troubleshoot experiments through rational and critical thinking
- You are highly organized with the ability to multitask in order to meet critical timelines
- You are familiar with electronic lab notebooks (Ex. Benchling), experimental data capture, and the associated 21 CFR part 11 compliance requirements
- You are an outstanding communicator, team player, and relationship builder, with a demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team
What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $60,500 - $75,600 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
You will have a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, professional development opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits.
Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
