The Technical Writer is responsible for producing professional print and digital media that reflect educational values, ensuring consistent use of the Division’s identity, and creating unique artwork for educational purposes. This role collaborates with consultants and vendors to develop examinations and media, coordinates data collection processes, and generates detailed reports for Alberta Education and the Board of Trustees. By maintaining technical knowledge and fostering effective communication, the Technical Writer contributes to the Division's goal of providing high-quality educational resources and maintaining a strong organizational presence.

Responsibilities and Activities
Media Production (50%)
- Produce professional print and digital media reflecting educational values through skilled computer layout, digital / hand illustration, and writing / editing.
- Create visual pieces consistent with design principles for student and professional learning.
- Utilize both digital and hand skills to create unique artwork for educational purposes within curricular requirements.
- Work in a cross / multi-platform environment and coordinate files to ensure proper functionality.
Collaboration and Coordination (35%)
Collaborate with consultants to develop high-quality curriculum resourcesCoordinate with Printing Services and other vendors to produce quotes and media.Collaborate with Technology Services as part of the coordination of data collection processes for division exams.Direct clients on proper program and file use, including various computer programs.Ensure consistent and continual use of the Division’s identity on materials to maintain its presence within schools and departments.Create cohesion in tests and themes for the department.Documentation and Reporting (15%)
Convert sketch diagrams into written resources for students.Organize and track digital and hardcopy files for program and Division use.Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Knowledge :
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.Understanding of educational principles and curricular requirements.Proficiency in digital and hand illustration techniques.Knowledge of design principles and cross-platform media production.Familiarity with data collection and reporting processes.Awareness of brand management and identity consistency.General knowledge of the Division’s operations and business and general understanding of the Division’s mission and vision in a faith-based environment.Knowledge of records management principles, the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.Knowledge and alignment with the Division's administrative procedures.Skills :
Proficiency in graphic design software, specifically Google Docs, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Canva.Strong writing and editing abilities.Excellent organizational and file management skills.Effective collaboration with consultants, vendors, and internal teams.Ability to create cohesive visual and written content.Strong communication skills for directing clients on program and file use.Competence in generating detailed reports and presentations.Competencies :
