Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre is a busy site where you will work both independently and as part of a team utilizing your organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The position includes days, and weekends. Conveniently situated on the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, Lacombe is a thriving small City in what some may say is the perfect location. It’s just 20 minutes north of Red Deer and an hour south of Edmonton. The city has many amenities including walking trails, golf course, theatre and a swimming pool. The Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre is an acute care facility with an active emergency department and long-term care attached.
Description :
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program including a microscopic urinalysis component. Cardiology training and experience including ECG’s and Holter Monitors. All blood collection procedures including venipuncture, micro-punctures, blood culture collection as well as collections on all patient ages including newborns, pediatrics and geriatrics. Recent experience performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis testing.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with Epic, Muse and Cardio-day. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
