Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system.

Our Capital Projects Group, Environmental Programs and Assessment Division, is seeking two Junior Project Coordinators to join our team to coordinate the relationship between the various consultants, contractors and stakeholders on infrastructure projects requiring Environmental approvals, mitigation and reporting, to coordinate the mitigation requirements of environmental assessments, and represent the interests of Metrolinx on-site. What will I be doing?

  • Assist in the Planning, management, documentation and oversight of contractor / consultants work, to ensure environmental compliance with Environmental Assessment Requirements developed through the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP), Class Environmental Assessments (EA), and Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) and report internal user group requirements through all project stages, such as the preparation of environmental assessment documents, mitigation reports, project studies, design reports, sustainable development reports, accessibility reports, contract specifications and construction administration.
  • Review internal and external environmental assessments for content, coordination requirements, and impacts to Metrolinx programs / projects, and monitor environmental sustainability developments.
  • Review, interpret and apply new codes, guidelines and legislation impacting environmental compliance and convey this information in writing to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on contractor / consultant adherence to contract terms of reference, and compliance with MECP and Conservation Authority guidelines, and assist in the development and application of corrective measures.
  • Ensure TPAP, Class EA, and CEAA screening report conditions are achieved, and reporting requirements documented for submission, to achieve project compliance.
  • Coordinate the environmental mitigation and reporting aspects of projects through all stages of environmental assessment, design, due diligence and construction in terms of function, quality schedules and approvals in co-ordination with external and internal authorities.
  • Ensure compliance of consultant agreements and construction contracts as they pertain to environmental assessment, mitigation and reporting of Metrolinx infrastructure expansion projects.
  • Identify, develop, and recommend physical infrastructure programs with respect to environmental mitigation approvals, adhering to mitigation requirements and potential on site mitigation improvements.
  • Develop, conduct and recommend mitigation standards and procedures requirements for new technology in Environmental Assessments and in capital works projects.
  • Gain experience and knowledge in all aspects of environmental compliance for Metrolinx projects across various stages of the project including noise and vibration, air quality, spill prevention, soil contamination, erosion and sediment control, ecology, archaeology, cultural heritage, and storm water management.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
