Job Summary
The Junior Mechanical CAD Designer is trained in Mechanical design and works with Senior Mechanical Designers and Electrical Hardware Designers to fix existing SolidWorks CAD files (3D & 2D) and upload them with the correct meta data to SolidWorks PDM.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Junior Mechanical CAD Designer is expected to assist the Senior Mechanical Designers in :
- Checking existing SolidWorks CAD files
- Comparing the SolidWorks CAD files with the as built products
- Revising the SolidWorks CAD files if needed
- Fixing all SolidWorks CAD files and adding the missing meta data
- Upload the fixed SolidWorks CAD files to SolidWorks PDM
- Investigations into modelling
- Performing measurements to assist in completion of design checking
- Completing designs
- Maintenance of existing Mechanical designs and drawings
- Perform all work in accordance with established procedures and guidelines as described in the Product Development Process.
Research and Design
Assist in research of new technology relevant to product directions.Assist in a technical analysis of proposed designs when requested.Assist in the generation of accurate Bill Of Materials for products and the different variations.Assist in the generation of conceptual 3D model designsAssist in the creation of detailed 3D model designsGeneration of 2D control drawingsQuality and Testing
Ensure all design and implementations are reviewed by the supervising senior hardware designers or QA hardware specialists.Assist in reviewing other mechanical designer’s work against requirements and quality standards.Documentation
Assist in the production of preliminary product documentation to communicate designs to other hardware designers, firmware developers, QA hardware specialists and manufacturing.Preferred Qualification
Two years Technology Diploma in mechanical engineeringStrong understanding of mechanical designExperience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, technical drawings, plastic and sheet metal design…Experience with manufacturing processesGood interpersonal communication skillsWork Location : In-office environment that is currently 3 days per week
City : Surrey
Type : Full-time, Temporary (4 to 8 months)
Compensation : $23 / hr - $26 / hr
