Clinical Supervisor (regional) & Youth Substance Use and Family Counsellor (south)
- Hours / week : 34 hours / week
- Wage : $44.50 / hour
- Primary Office Location(s) : Castlegar / Trail
- Areas Served : Trail, Salmo, Nelson, and surrounding areas
The Clinical Supervisor is a dual-role position combining direct clinical service delivery (26 hours / week) as a Youth Substance Use and Family Counsellor with expanded clinical supervision responsibilities (8 hours / week). This expanded supervisory role (total 34 hours / week) ensures quality service delivery, adherence to evidence-based practices, and compliance with federal and provincial best practice guidelines across both community-based substance use services and residential stabilization care, while maintaining an active clinical caseload.

Education
Master's degree in a relevant healthcare field such as social work, psychology, nursing, or equivalent (REQUIRED)Additional training or certification in clinical supervision is preferredExperience
Minimum two (3) years of clinical experience working in child and youth mental health servicesMinimum two (3) years of experience working in substance use servicesMinimum two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical settingExperience providing a wide range of community-based mental health and substance use servicesExperience in residential or intensive care settings is preferredExperience supervising multidisciplinary teams, geographically dispersed staff, or across multiple programs is an assetDemonstrated experience with youth-centered, harm reduction approachesDemonstrated experience working with LBGTQ2S+ youth and their familiesExperience and confidence driving in all seasonsKnowledge and Skills
Advanced knowledge of best-practice approaches to youth substance use interventionsExpertise in clinical supervision models and practicesStrong understanding of concurrent disorders and integrated treatment approachesProficiency in evidence-informed therapeutic modalitiesAbility to work from a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens within an ecological frameworkExpert knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice principlesDeep understanding of harm reduction principles and recovery-oriented careStrong assessment, crisis intervention, and case management skillsStrong critical thinking and clinical judgment skillsKnowledge of professional ethics and clinical standardsUnderstanding of federal and provincial best practice guidelines for youth substance use servicesWillingness to engage in life-long learning and self-reflexivity practices to understand Indigenous worldviews and the important role of culture in facilitating healing.Recognition that colonization continues to impact the health and wellness of Indigenous Peoples.
