About your next challenge as Controller :

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller responsible for the accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates cross-functionally with various individuals across all levels of the organization.

Must be able to lead a team and effectively interface with senior levels of management.

The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, accounting practices, and oversight of the preparation of financial reports.

What You Will Do :

• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end management accounting processes, delivering reports in an accurate and timely manner that are insightful for effective decision-making.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
• Review monthly contract accounting to ensure project accuracy and compliance with revenue recognition policies.
• Oversee cash management and treasury functions, ensuring sufficient funds are available and maintaining control oversight of bank accounts.
• Lead the preparation of internal and external audit fieldwork and schedules.
• Improve financial reporting processes.
• Review and improve internal controls and SOX compliance, partnering with internal audit and corporate accounting to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Review balance sheet and P&L reconciliation(s) to meet reporting requirements.
• Oversee the R&D Tax claim process to ensure timely submission, working closely with external accountants and senior leadership.
• Provide essential support to the team’s daily operations, facilitating a seamless workflow and efficient practices.
• Lead and manage ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity to drive change.
• Champion the enhancement of finance processes and tools, including the introduction of automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Foster the development and maintenance of robust financial controls to secure the company’s assets and ensure financial integrity.

Required Skills and Experiences :

• Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• CPA accounting designation.
• Ability to lead and mentor an accounting team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid knowledge of Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
• Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. French and English proficiency required.
• Experience with Oracle SmartView is an asset.
• Aerospace and Defense industry experience is preferred.

Eligibility Criteria :

• Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2 / NATO Secret security clearance.
• Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
