Purpose
The Senior Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role is responsible for the technical execution of electrical engineering work across projects, supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, while contributing to mentoring and technical development within the electrical engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Leading the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes.
- Supporting project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensuring project scope is clearly defined and that changes are managed in accordance with project change management processes.
- Providing technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including :
- Preparation and review of electrical equipment and materials requisitions
- Technical bid evaluations
- Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders
- Coordinating electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies between Worley and client standards and requirements.
- Supporting the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers as required.
- Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Proactively identifying technical issues and risks, developing appropriate solutions, and escalating when needed.
Technical & Industry Experience
Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure).Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools (e.g., SAP, KMS, or equivalent project systems).Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations (e.g., participation in HAZOP / LOPA where electrical systems interface with safety functions).Understanding of project scope definition, workshare execution, and the practical impacts of TA / NTA execution models.Strong working knowledge of Electrical Engineering deliverables, including :
Electrical single-line diagrams and schematicsPower distribution studies and load listsMotor control center (MCC) layouts and schematicsCable schedules, routing, tray and conduit layoutsGrounding and bonding drawingsLighting and small power layoutsArea classification and hazardous area electrical layoutsBills of materialMaterial requisitionsConstruction and engineering work packagesWorking knowledge of electrical system design and application
Low and medium voltage power distribution systemsMotor control and protection systemsVariable frequency drives (VFDs)Lighting systems and emergency powerGrounding, bonding, and lightning protectionHazardous area electrical design and applicable codes / standardsEducation, Qualifications & Accreditation
Required : Accredited Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA, or eligibility to obtain registration.Solid experience in electrical engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects.Demonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation.Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.Moving forward together
