Grain Buyer
Responsibilities :
- Grow existing business base and build relationships directly with farmers and develop new partnerships.
- Responsible for negotiating and buying grain and other special crops and continually increase market share.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships with farmers, brokers and toll processors.
- Keeps daily records on kinds grades of grain received, prices paid, amount purchased and amount in storage.
- Purchase correct grades of grains for domestic contracts and exports.
- Ensure timely delivery of products.
- Produce daily reports to management of all offers and bids.
- Send out weekly crop progress and harvest reports in addition to market trends.
Qualifications :
- Degree in Ag-Business or other formal training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working within the grain industry.
- Proven track record building strong farmer and grain elevators relations.
- Proficiency with grain purchasing and contract management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player and able to work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced, work environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, Access.
- Ability to travel in Canada and abroad to visit farming operations and grain elevators.
