This position reports to the Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial.
Responsibilities
1- Support Individual sector activities :
- Be the main point of contact with partners in order to help them achieve their business objectives
- Support partners in understanding financial results and identifying levers for improvement
- Have an in-depth understanding of the sector’s business model, including decision makers’ key priorities and motivations
- Advise and collaborate on acquisition projects and the sector’s improve, maintain initiatives
- Establish the parameters to be used for product underwriting and financial analysis of other business initiatives for the Individual sector and monitor costs and benefits based on the standards and procedures set by the CFO sector
- Establish and maintain reinsurance agreements for the Individual sector.
2- Support the operations led by the corporate CFO teams :
Ensure collaboration between the various Financial and Corporate Actuarial Services value chains (production of financial information, product profitability, financial condition testing, etc.
and the sector’s team oBe responsible for the production and analysis of the financial information required for the financial statements, financial projections for the financial condition testing, the budget, ORSA, investor presentations, capital adequacy, etc.
Provide support to the external auditor or for peer reviews
3- Build a high-performance team :
- Ensure the alignment and consistency of the team’s practices with best practices established by the CFO team and develop expertise
- Support resource development
- In collaboration with the sector managers, ensure the maintenance and development of the team’s expertise
- In collaboration with other senior delivery managers, ensure the implementation of best practices for the Finance and Actuarial service delivery teams
4- Identify needs in terms of tools, systems, HR and expertise to support all operations led by corporate sectors and teams
Desired profile
1- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, actuarial, accounting or another relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in management
- Experience managing a team of experts in a multidisciplinary and matrix-based situation (asset)
2- Recognized as a strategic business partner with confirmed leadership abilities
3- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferred
4- Strong ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with various levels within the organization in a spirit of collaboration
5- Proactive in identifying current and future needs
6- Skilled at quickly ascertaining strategic issues
7- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence
8- Excellent English and French language skills, both oral and written, due to regular interaction with English and French speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and the United States
