As an Apprentice Technician COOP, you will assist Technicians with inspecting and lubricating customer’s vehicles in accordance with policies and procedures as set forth by the Service Manager. Under the supervision of Licensed Technicians, you will be assisting with light mechanical work such as tire and battery replacement.
What drives your day-to-day?
- Perform oil & filter changes.
- Sell lubrication, safety inspection, & related services.
- Perform complete multi‑point inspection on vehicle, check, and mark all required items on the checklist as required. Present the findings to the Service Advisor.
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels, replace or replenish as necessary.
- Check tire pressure and add air if needed.
- Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants.
- Tire mounting / balancing, rotations and repairs.
- Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Document all work performed on the repair order.
- Participate in manufacturer‑sponsored training programs as assigned by the service manager.
- Ensure that customers’ cars are kept clean.
- Notify the Service Advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Keep the shop area neat and clean.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Report any safety issues immediately to management.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Must-Haves
Enrollment in the NAIT Automotive Service Technology program.Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Efficient problem‑solving skills.Ability to work individually and as part of a team.High level of integrity and work ethic.Ability to meet physical demands such as heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time and using power tools and hand‑held equipment.A valid driver’s license and a safe driving history.Availability to work shop hours, which may include Saturdays.Perks
