The Technician will install and maintain communications hardware and networks in commercial environments. The Technician will travel to customer sites to install and configure various network cabling and IT equipment.
Responsibilities and DutiesInterpret and manage work orders, drawings and specificationsPerform site inspections, assemble and set up tools, materials and equipmentTest, review and troubleshoot various IT equipment and associated software to ensure that they are working appropriately after installationsInstall network and peripheral hardware (servers, switches, RF, POS, wireless, printers, etc.
Install, fish, dress, cross connect and terminated UTP, coax and fibre cable while installing cable supports when neededComplete work logs and reportsLiaise with customers to explain, coordinate and schedule work to be completedTravel to customer sites across a wide geographic area to perform the work, working both day and night shiftsQualifications3+ years’ experience with structured cabling in commercial environments (cat5 / 6)2+ years’ experience installing IT equipment such as PCs, printers, servers, etc.
Experience installing various types of network infrastructure equipment (switches, routers, servers, DSL modems, access points, etc.
Experience troubleshooting cabling, hardware and network issues Proficient computer schools with demonstrated understanding of computer networkingOccupational RequirementsAble to operate hand and power toolsAble to climb ladders, operate elevated work platforms (i.
e. Scissor Lift) and work at heightsMust possess a full and valid driver’s licence with a clear driver’s abstractMust have access to a vehicle for business use Able and willing to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, etc.
Able and willing to travel extensively throughout an assigned geographic regionAssetsCurrent and valid Health and Safety certifications such as Fall Protection, Working at Heights, WHMIS, etc.
