Structural Engineer, Buildings

Overview

WSP is seeking a dynamic Structural Engineer to join the Structural Engineering Group in Vancouver. Reporting to a Team Lead, this role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop design solutions from proposal stage through to constructed projects across various sectors, with a significant client-facing component.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate on a team to provide technical solutions for medium to large projects under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Perform engineering calculations and assessments for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures under supervision
• Perform calculations using design software and finite element modelling with a solid understanding of basic principles
• Demonstrate capabilities in seismic design with knowledge of BCBC and NBC; grow these skills over time
• Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary projects
• Contribute to accurate and efficient project deliverables to high standards
• Assist in preparation of detail drawings, sections, standard details, and specifications to ensure quality delivery
• Write technical reports with supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Conduct field reviews, inspections, and condition assessments
• Develop innovative and elegant solutions for new and existing structures
• Approach projects with curiosity and a client-centric mindset
• Promote diversity and inclusion in the work environment and in design processes
• Advance computational design and interactions between graphical and analytical structural models
• Occasional travel within Canada for project-related work, site assessments, and site support

About You

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations) : $78,600 to 108,100. WSP Canada provides the compensation range based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
