Main Purpose & Function
The Program Assistant II works under the direction of a supervisor, primarily the Recreation Programmer or Community Youth Worker, in assisting in the development, implementation, administration and coordination of programs, program area or events.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a strong appreciation for recreation and social development. This position performs routine recreational work including supervision of recreational programs and opening and lockup of the facility. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as a team member. The scope of this work may include (but is not limited to) : assisting in carrying out special events, monitoring the safety and behaviour of the participants in facility programs or activities such as youth activity nights and special events, volunteer recruitment, opening, setting-up or closing a facility, and some moderate clerical responsibilities and office break coverage. This position is responsible for ensuring participants are safe while in our programs.
Hours of work will vary and may include evening and / or weekend shifts.
