Senior Accounting Clerk
Jump Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to join the team at O'Neill Auto Group in Mount Pearl, NL.
O'Neill Auto Group is Canada's largest Nissan dealer group with three locations within the province. Accompanied by brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Infiniti, and Acura, the O'Neill Auto Group, a family-owned and operated business, is also Newfoundland and Labrador's largest luxury vehicle retailer.
THE ROLE :
The Senior Accounting Clerk will report to the Assistant Controller and will be a key member of the accounting team. This person will be a detail-oriented professional who is a team player and will contribute to the success of our finance department.
Automotive finance experience would be considered an asset.
KEY FUNCTIONS :
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
- HST calculations and filing of returns as well as making payments
- Assist (when needed) with the process of new and used vehicles
- Conduct financial audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations
- Monthly HAPSET calculation and payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly flooring interest calculation and payments
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
- Monthly reconciliations and review of schedules
- Assist in preparing year-end audit working papers
- Assist with other accounting functions and duties as needed or on a required basis
- Assist with the training of new as well as current staff
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 5 years' work experience in a senior accounting role
- Automotive experience, especially familiarity with CDK or similar, would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Strong computer skills including Excel
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
- Demonstrated skill in strategic financial and operational management and long-term planning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player with a positive attitude and professional demeanor
