The Senior Associate, Actuarial Solutions is integral to the success of the Pension Solutions team, and to CAAT’s guiding mission and growth strategy.

In this role, you will develop and utilize new tools to properly value benefits and measure risks in non-routine situations.

You will act as the main point of contact in guiding employers through the onboarding process in a timely manner, including responsibility for project planning, leading meetings, documentation, procedures, and customer service required to onboard employers.

You will support the Growth Team in performing actuarial projections, analysis, and due diligence related to pension plan mergers.

We are looking for someone with :

  • University degree (e.g. majoring in actuarial science, statistics, or mathematics) and / or College diploma and / or a combination of equivalent training, education, and experience
  • Nearing Fellow, Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) / Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or demonstrated equivalent education / experience
  • Five (5) to seven (8) years of experience in the pension industry

The successful candidate will demonstrate :

  • Thorough understanding of pension calculations and strong Excel skills
  • Experience working with valuation and projection software such as ProVal
  • Problem solver always looking to improve current practices
  • Customer service and project management experience is preferable
  • An agile and problem-solving mindset, open and accepting of change with the ability to improve current processes
  • Exceptional Customer Service approach
  • Good communication skills (both written and oral)

Once here you will :

  • Emphasis on providing actuarial support around pricing of potential pension plan mergers and supporting the onboarding for merging plans
  • Work with senior executives to develop pricing proposals and prepare analysis needed to support decision making
  • Develop project plans and support the senior team members during internal and external meetings to plan for and review progress of ongoing projects
  • Responsible for the preparation of applications, notices, operational reports, and other growth-related correspondence and documentation
  • Collaborate with various teams to respond to questions from stakeholders and resolve onboarding related issues
  • Provide cross-departmental support for the internal set-up and transitioning of merging plans.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of junior team members
