General Accountabilities

• Under the direction of the FLM Generation Operations, the regional maintainer mechanical UTSIII will service and maintain mechanical equipment in efficient operating condition in various locations in Ontario.
• Maintain diesel and mini hydro generation units in Remote Communities.
• Troubleshoot, dismantle, overhaul and assemble stationary and rotating mechanical equipment.
• Make mechanical installations in accordance with drawings, specifications and written or oral instructions, and submit written reports on the status and condition of mechanical equipment.
• Act as a lead hand, and / or contract monitor as required and be responsible for the establishment and holding of necessary work protection.
• Act as an operator’s switching agent if required and perform environmental management duties.
• Keeps machinery and mechanical equipment in efficient operating condition.
• Fits together the component mechanical parts of assemblies such as pipes, valves, pumps, turbines, generators, motors, governors, compressors, and control apparatus.
• Diagnoses defects, dismantles, repairs, aligns, assembles, and adjusts such equipment.
• Job activities may include machining, welding, refrigeration / air conditioning maintenance, basic electrical maintenance and acting as operator’s agent.
• Carry out the duties of a Level III Supervisor as outlined in the Maintenance Trades Supervisory Criteria and Responsibilities Matrix.
