Unit Summary
The McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program is an ambulatory service for children and youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These services have strong links to McMaster University’s Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, McMaster Autism Research Team (MacART) and the Offord Centre for Child Studies. The McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program is the lead agency for the MCCSS West Region ASD Diagnostic Hub.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the ASD Diagnostic Hub for the West Region. The Program Coordinator will support families accessing diagnostic services and link to appropriate service providers as mandated by MCCSS. Reporting to and in conjunction with the McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program Clinical Manager and Clinical Leader, the Program Coordinator will support MCCSS reporting requirements, work collaboratively with service providers to establish partnerships, support the intake and screening / triaging of referrals, and build capacity for ASD diagnostic services across the West Region.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday (evenings and Saturdays may be included)
This position is temporary until August 2026
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's level Degree or Diploma; Master’s level Degree considered an asset
2. Current certificate of registration as a Regulated Health Professional in Ontario considered an asset
3. Minimum 1-2 years recent, relevant clinical experience in pediatric ambulatory setting
4. Well-developed knowledge of the pediatric services, and other disciplines along the continuum of care (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, early childhood development, developmental disabilities, early intervention, and clinical issues)
5. Knowledge, skills and abilities required to support families in accessing services and navigating systems including relevant community services and children's treatment facilities
6. Experience in a leadership position with demonstrated ability to role model and promote collaboration between and amongst interdisciplinary care providers
7. Excellent interpersonal skills
8. Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to initiate and work independently
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills
10. Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills
11. Proficiency in use of computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)
12. Willingness to participate in criminal reference check
13. Fluency in French will be considered an asset
14. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
