Senior Advisor, Model Risk Governance – Desjardins
As part of its activities, Desjardins uses a large number of quantitative models, including advanced analytical tools and artificial intelligence systems, to support its product and service offer and properly manage its risks, while always doing what’s best for members and clients. These models require a governance framework to manage associated risks throughout their life cycle. The role involves providing expert advice and leadership to ensure effective model risk management.
Responsibilities
- Propose solutions to optimize the governance framework to strengthen control over model risk.
- Coordinate efforts of contributors in specialized risk areas to oversee models, including AI systems.
- Supervise the cross‑sector process that supports the inclusion of models in decision‑making throughout their life cycle.
- Provide opinions and follow up on non‑compliance with the model risk management framework.
- Help develop positions on complex situations involving models that require sufficient knowledge of the model’s area of application.
- Design and lead the presentation of materials supporting direction and decision‑making for model risk management.
- Participate in the annual planning of model risk governance support activities.
- Act as superuser for the tool implemented to support model risk governance.
- Monitor model risk governance practices, drawing on industry contacts and publications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field.A minimum of six years of relevant experience (other combinations may be considered).Experience in financial institution risk management.Knowledge of French is required.Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English, due to the nature of duties or interactions with English‑speaking partners.Knowledge and understanding of regulations related to model risk management, particularly those related to artificial intelligence systems.Benefits
