360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth. These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.

Youth Worker -Cold Weather Expansion Overnight - (Part Time Contract until April ,2025)

The Overnight Youth Worker will provide client centered, therapeutic support to all youth who are accessing the cold weather overflow beds. Overnight awake shift Friday and Saturday  11pm-7am . Provide a therapeutic, safe and welcoming environment for youth.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the overnight operations (monitoring health and safety, provide informal counselling, implement program routine, ensure adherence to policies and procedures, respond to crisis situations and other duties as required).
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
  • Perform some housework, light maintenance, and repair work, or arrange for additional service.
  • Monitor health and safety, including ensuring maintenance and cleanliness of shared spaces.
  • Complete all mandatory recording and reporting including daily documentation, statistical data collection and completing registration forms. Provide reports and related information to the Manager of Hub Programs as required.
  • Advocate on youth’s behalf and act as a positive role model for youth.
  • Maintain positive relationships and interact with various community partners including schoolboards, police services, child welfare agencies, neighbors, etc. in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Positively contribute to 360°kids as an organization. Reports on a regular basis to the Manager regarding issues of need and / or concern.
  • Follow appropriate policies and procedures of 360°kids. Ensures that the program operates in line with 360°kids’ mission, vision and values and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Other duties as required.

Overnight awake shift from 11pm - 7am Friday and Saturday.

Qualification & Skills Required :

  • CYW Degree / Diploma or Post-Secondary education in a Human Service related field or the equivalent of combined education and experience working with youth.
  • Previous experience working with at-risk involved youth a must.
  • The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth; understanding of domestic youth homelessness; knowledge of relevant legislation (i.e. CFSA) and a strong understanding of case management principles.
  • Demonstrated client focused case management skills and role modelling.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
  • Ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and make professional referrals.
  • Experience working in crisis environments and youth who have experienced trauma is an asset.
  • Must have : Current first aid / CPR certification and current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
