The Opportunity
This is a senior-level in-house Project Manager role based in Barrie, Ontario , responsible for leading large, technically complex automation projects from early planning through final commissioning. These are high-visibility, multi-million-dollar initiatives that require strong commercial awareness, technical credibility, and the ability to bring diverse teams together around shared outcomes.
Reporting into senior project leadership, the successful candidate will act as the central point of coordination between engineering, manufacturing, skilled trades, procurement, customers, and executive stakeholders.
Position Description
The Project Manager will own the full project lifecycle, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations are met or exceeded.
Key areas of responsibility include :
- End-to-end leadership of automation projects, from initiation and detailed planning through build, installation coordination, and commissioning
- Financial stewardship of assigned projects, including forecasting, cost control, and regular performance reporting
- Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, leading progress reviews, updates, and issue resolution
- Development and management of project schedules, milestones, and resource plans
- Close collaboration with engineering, shop floor, automation, procurement, and operations teams to ensure alignment and execution
- Proactive identification and escalation of risks, constraints, and scope changes
- Oversight of project documentation including commercial records, correspondence, schedules, and requisitions
- Contribution to quotation development using internal costing and estimating tools
- Ensuring safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and company policies are upheld at all times
Travel is minimal , typically limited to occasional on-site check-ins, customer meetings tied to key milestones, or monitoring progress during installation or commissioning.
Experience
