Job Summary
Child and Youth Worker - Day Treatment will report directly to the Client Services Supervisor. Our school-based Day Treatment program in Simcoe County has a permanent relief position available for a Child and Youth Worker. This 10‑month position is from September to early July, with a summer lay‑off from early July to end of August. In this primary care position, you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will implement treatment plans for youth, provide crisis management and behaviour support to youth, participate in clinical team meetings and treatment plan reviews.

This position is covered by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 355 group. Internal applicants will be considered first. Hourly Pay Rate : Level I : $26.97; Level II : $28.52; Level III : $29.77.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide behaviour management, observation, assessment, intervention, treatment and documentation within a school setting.
- Provide evidence‑based treatment delivered through group sessions and individual programming.
- Provide primary care to 6‑12 youth / clients within a school setting, monitor, document, and administer treatment needs.
- Work collaboratively with clinical therapists to assist the client in achieving their treatment goals and practicing skills in a school‑based setting.
- Provide and receive clinical feedback to interdisciplinary teams, including participating in regular treatment review meetings.
- Related work in the school community which is not client specific—classroom relations, interactions within the school body, home‑school and community partners.
- Assist in helping the client and family utilize wider resources in the educational system and community and advocate on their behalf.
- Develop and implement individual goals, service actions and indicators and ensure the delivery of the specific treatment plan.
- Provide assistance to meet client’s academic goals.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment by providing consistent, predictable and supportive structure and behaviour management techniques.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Child and Youth Worker Diploma.Approximately five (5) years of experience within mental health is required.Current and valid First Aid / CPR Level C certificate.Familiarity with fundamentals of working with children / youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.Current certification in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) considered an asset. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.Medication administration training is an asset. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and engagement skills.Working knowledge of evidence‑informed therapy models and techniques.Ability to work with children / youth and families in a culturally sensitive manner.Computer literacy and effective report‑writing abilities.Enthusiasm, versatility, adaptability and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an inter‑disciplinary team.Travel is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.Seniority level
