ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentice (“Apprentice Mechanic”) you will learn to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, and maintain heavy duty equipment and tools used in construction under supervision.

- Assist mechanics with inspections and repairs
- Follow Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures

- Attend training and keep accurate work records
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist experienced mechanics in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing engines, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical components, and other mechanical systems on vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Maintain, inspect, and repair chains in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Safely fuel company equipment using the fuel truck, ensuring proper handling, spill prevention, accurate documentation, and compliance with environmental requirements.
- Grease blades and equipment according to maintenance schedules, ensuring proper lubrication, safe operation, and reduced wear.
- Learn and apply all safety procedures for working with machinery, tools, and equipment in shops, service stations, garages, or outdoor construction environments.
- Operate and maintain tools, diagnostic devices, and computerized systems under supervision.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and basic repairs as skills progress toward journeyperson level.
