ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Apprentice (“Apprentice Mechanic”) you will learn to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, and maintain heavy duty equipment and tools used in construction under supervision.

Key Roles

• Assist mechanics with inspections and repairs
• Follow Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures
• Operate and maintain tools and diagnostics участок under supervision

• Attend training and keep accurate work records

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist experienced mechanics in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing engines, brakes, steering, suspension, hydraulics, electrical components, and other mechanical systems on vehicles or heavy equipment.
• Maintain, inspect, and repair chains in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Safely fuel company equipment using the fuel truck, ensuring proper handling, spill prevention, accurate documentation, and compliance with environmental requirements.
• Grease blades and equipment according to maintenance schedules, ensuring proper lubrication, safe operation, and reduced wear.
• Learn and apply all safety procedures for working with machinery, tools, and equipment in shops, service stations, garages, or outdoor construction environments.
• Operate and maintain tools, diagnostic devices, and computerized systems under supervision.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and basic repairs as skills progress toward journeyperson level.
