The successful candidate will be responsible for :
Providing senior technical advice, direction, and mentorshipDesigning and conducting ecological inventory, effects assessment and monitoring programs, including data analysis and technical report writing, as appropriateLeading the design, planning and implementation of field programsDeveloping regulatory applications and liaising between regulators and clients when necessaryCompleting senior technical review and Quality Assurance / Quality Control of vegetation and wetland mapping products and reports, and providing technical sign-off as required for wetland and vegetation deliverablesManaging and coordinating projects, including budget compilation and trackingCollaborating with the EDI team to execute proposals, including cost estimateSupporting other staff / projects within EDIParticipating proactively in EDI’s health and safety programWe are looking for someone with :
Operational knowledge of provincial / territorial and federal regulatory requirements and processesA proven record in completing field work productively and safelyStrong organizational, time management and interpersonal skillsThe ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesExperience with project management and client liaisonWillingness to travel for field work in remote locations and / or between officesExperience and interest in mentoring staff and providing support / supervisionSelf-motivation and an ability to respond in a fast-paced environmentJob requirements include :
A minimum of 10 years of related consulting experience (or equivalent)BSc degree in biology or related discipline(s); MSc would be an assetRegistration or eligibility for registration as RPBio, RPF, PBiol or PAgKnowledge and experience of terrestrial ecology in western Canada, such as soil science, vegetation ecology and taxonomy (including listed species), Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping, wetland ecology, and / or reclamationExperience in a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, transportation, mining, renewable energy and / or urban developmentClass 5 driver’s licenseApplication deadline – August 31, 2025
The typical compensation range for this position is from $82,000 – $146,000 annually; the compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
