Purpose :
The Reference, Circulation and Programs Coordinator's primary responsibility is to assist the Manager, Library Student Engagement, by coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Circulation and Reference Services area at Markham Library.
This role will lead a team of staff in providing and coordinating excellent customer service to library users at the Markham Circulation and Reference Service Desk and through YUL virtual services.
The position will coordinate the activities of the Markham Library's circulation and reference services. The role is responsible for attending to relevant operational needs and will liaise with other Markham Library staff and CCSD coordinators, supervisors and managers.
Under the direction of the Manager, this role collaborates with the Experiential Education Librarian to assist in the coordination of the experiential education program for students in the Markham Library.
This position acts as the back-up for other Markham library coordinators, as required.

Experience :
Two years' experience in providing related front-line public service in a high-volume area. Some library public service and / or academic research experience preferred.
Experience in providing customer service based on User Experience (UX) principles. Includes one year staff coordination experience in a customer service environment.
Skills :
Ability to maintain accurate records and work with data to compile reports, working accurately with figures
Ability to answer general, and arts, film and / or communications-related enquiries clearly and concisely, specifically in a reference-oriented environment.
Knowledge of User Experience (UX) and Experiential Education principles
Ability to troubleshoot and demonstrate the basic use of non-specialized digital equipment.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team, and ability to work independently,
Ability to work effectively under pressure of changing priorities and high volume and to deal courteously and effectively with people
