The Opportunity
A unique opportunity to live and work in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. WSP is currently seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager / Project Engineer to join our Canmore Land Development and Municipal Engineering team. Reporting to the Area Manager in Canmore, this position’s responsibilities include working on a wide variety of projects in terms of type and scale, including leading municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, and site servicing projects for public and private clients. You will provide design, planning, and construction administration services, and work directly with clients and regulatory agencies.
What you can expect to do here
- Work with the Manager to build the existing Land Development and Municipal Engineering practice in the region.
- Provide mentorship to new and existing junior staff.
- Oversee design and project execution for land development and municipal infrastructure projects such as site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, water main and sewage collection rehabilitation, road design, etc.
- Actively participate in design and provide direction to the design team throughout the process.
- Lead a multi‑disciplinary project team to undertake major infrastructure projects.
- Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies.
- Perform site inspections as required.
- Manage project budgets, project schedules, and client communications.
- Apply proven design experience including conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs.
- Contribute to RFP, bid and proposal documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to WSP
Minimum of 10+ years of municipal infrastructure experience for public and private sector projects.An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.Professional Engineer designation in Alberta.A Technologist qualification may be considered provided the professional certification and ability to stamp documents.Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.Knowledge and application of municipal standards and guidelines.Project management experience on municipal and / or private sector projects.Experience with storm, sewer, water main, and road design.Familiarity with local planning and approval processes.Valid driver’s license.Experience working with southern Alberta municipalities and / or in a mountainous setting is an asset.Why choose WSP
