Senior Machine Learning Scientist & Engineer
Position Overview:
Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with a respected and innovative organization in their search for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist & Engineer. This role is designed for a hands-on practitioner who enjoys operating at the intersection of applied research and real-world engineering, ensuring AI systems perform safely, reliably, and cost-effectively in production environments.
This opportunity is well-suited for professionals who want to move beyond theoretical models and see their work deployed quickly. The successful candidate will play a central role in advancing how AI features are evaluated, monitored, and validated as the organization continues to scale its machine learning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of prompts used in LLM-powered features
- Build and maintain synthetic datasets to support testing, validation, and ongoing evaluation
- Design and execute experiments that measure model accuracy, robustness, safety, and cost efficiency
- Define and monitor key performance indicators such as reliability, drift, latency, and regression risk
- Develop evaluation pipelines, dashboards, and alerting mechanisms to support production monitoring
- Apply rigorous statistical methods to generate reproducible insights and actionable findings
- Investigate production issues and collaborate with engineering and product teams on mitigation strategies
- Contribute to documentation, validation frameworks, and operational best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with LLMs, prompt design, or applied machine learning in production
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using ML or statistical frameworks
- Solid grounding in experimental design, statistical inference, and data-driven evaluation
- Proven ability to implement observability and monitoring for model outputs
- Experience building production-quality systems, not just research prototypes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environments
