About Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) and the Fuel Innovation Fund (FIF)
Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) was established in 2009 to advance Alberta’s environmental and economic objectives by investing industrial carbon pricing proceeds into clean-technology projects that reduce emissions, lower costs, and create jobs. The Fuel Innovation Fund (FIF), a subsidiary of ERA, is a registered Emissions Reduction program under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) and is responsible for accelerating the deployment of technologies leading to lower carbon intensive transportation fuels. Through this fund, primary fuel suppliers may meet a portion of their regulatory obligations by contributing to emissions-reduction initiatives aligned with the regulation.
