The Infrastructure Technical Specialist (INTS) is asenior level resource with specialized knowledge and experience inspecific technologies.
Theclient is looking for local resources to fill this position. Theperson needs to sot onsite for the first 30 days and then will worka hybrid model afterwards.

GENERALSUMMARY
The Systems Engineer s role isto design installadminister and optimize servers and relatedcomponents to achieve highperformance of the various businessapplications supported by City of CedarRapids.
This includes localremote and cloudbased solutions ensuring theavailability ofapplications configuring new implementations anddevelopingprocesses and procedures for ongoing management of theserver environment.
Where applicable the Systems Engineer willassist in overseeing the physical securityintegrity and safety ofthe data center / server environment.
The SystemsEngineer plays a key role in providing creativedynamic solutionsfor a variety of needs at the City of Cedar Rapids.
The citymaintains a highly availableenvironment requiring coordination withlocal departments and providingcritical services.
As acustomercentricDivision of the City IT staff must display thehighest levels ofprofessionalism teamwork and flexibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this jobdescription is to provide arepresentative summary of the majorduties and responsibilities performed byincumbents of this job.

- Collaborate with IT City management and leadersto assess near andlongterm virtualization capacity needs with financiallysoundsolutions.
- Develop strategies for serviceimplementations;architect the infrastructure required to supportthose strategies.
- Act as project lead in thedesign and review ofnew services applications and hardware; conductcapacity planning as needed.
- Lead coordinateand participate in key processimprovements as they relate to theserver environment.
- Coordinate andcollaborate with networkengineering business application anddatabase administration function toensure availability reliabilityand scalability of servers and cloud servicesto meet businessdemands.
- Collaborate on and implementpoliciesprocedures and technologies to ensure services security andcompliance.
- Develop implement and maintainpoliciesprocedures and associated training plans for systemsadministration usageand disaster recovery.
- Check the service desk database for Incidentsand Service Requests;prioritize and respond to tickets as appropriate andwithin statedSLAs.
- Serve as cornerstone for escalatingserverissues; provide timely response to customer escalations.
- Define and document best practice proceduresforimplementation and maintenance of theenvironment.
- Perform file system configurationandmanagement; define and perform server backups and recoveryprocedures.
- Plan and implement strategies forDisasterrecovery and Business continuity solutions within theenvironment.
- Plan and implement serverupgrades softwareupgrades maintenance fixes and vendorsuppliedpatches and coordinate thoseefforts with System Engineer andapplications team.
- Provide Web administrationsupport by overseeingand maintaining Web server functions such asassuring logging and metrics dataare stable.
- Monitor and test system performance and provideperformancestatistics and reports.
- Stay current onsecurity related trends and makerecommendations based on research.
- Create shell scripts as required.
- Manage enterprise directory servicesandsupporting server infrastructure.
- Manageall cloudbased backoffice services andprovide integration supportfor all other cloudbased services.
- Define andimplement strategies for integratingdisparate operatingenvironments.
- Recommend and executemodifications to serverenvironment to improve efficiencyreliability and performance.
- Develop andserver documentation and maintaintraining materials.
- Manage and / or provide guidance to juniormembersof the team.

MINIMUM ENTRANCEQUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in computer science or relatedfiles and / or 5 7years equivalent work experience.

Knowledgeof :
- At least fiveyears equivalent work experiencein a senior technical analyticalposition responsible for managingserverenvironments.
- Moderate to advancedknowledge of VMware.
- Experience implementing anew ESX clustermigrating clusters decommissioning hosts updatingVMware tools and buildinga new vCenter.
- Troubleshooting ESX issues related to storagenetwork andperformance issues.
- Advanced knowledge of thefollowing : WindowsServer Active Directory RedHat SharePoint and MSTeams.
- Moderate to advanced knowledge of thefollowingTechnologies including Pure Storage Nimble Storage andDell Servers.
- Not required but beneficial iffamiliar with;VEEAM.
- Experience installingconfiguring andmaintaining all manners of server hardware andassociated network equipmentincluding SCSI RAID and I / Otopology.
- Experience with server performancetuning andmonitoring tools.
- Excellenthardware troubleshooting experience.
