Plan Group Inc. is currently looking for an Electrical Design Manager to join our Integrated Pursuits team in pursuing major constructions projects across Canada.
Our team is actively pursuing several high-profile projects in Ontario, Quebec, and Western Canada.

- Overseeing a comprehensive and detailed estimate
This role requires sound communications skills (both oral and written), demonstrated through client and staff relations, as well as strong presentation skills.
You should feel comfortable speaking in front of people and leading meetings and technical discussions to represent Plan Group effectively.
As an experienced Electrical Design Manager, you must work independently in a complex, fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects and clients.
You have excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Above all, you must be willing to learn and contribute to the team.
As Electrical Design Manager , you will :
- Lead Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with an electrical focus.
- Read and clearly understand an issued Statement of Requirements; review, understand and interpret job specifications and drawings to develop competitive submissions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, clients, and partners.
- Collaborate within an Integrated Multi Discipline team in both estimating and operations to optimize efficiency and pricing.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective project designs, aligning closely with project requirements.
- Manage pursuit schedules and meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with consultant partners on system layouts and decision-making for estimates.
- Understand the impact of building operations design decisions.
- Produce accurate quotations through material and labour take-off.
- Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers for pricing.
- Manage project tasks within time and budget constraints, overseeing team members’ work quality.
- Coordinate system installations with other design disciplines.
- Research and implement changes to increase efficiency and profitability.
- Stay updated on current industry techniques, codes, and standards.
- Participate in bid review and handover meetings.
- Maintain and develop new business opportunities.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior design staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five (5) years of engineering experience in the Electrical Construction industry, with an Electrical Engineering degree / diploma or related education / trade experience.
- Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario or BC, or Ingénieur licensed in Québec, considered an asset.
- Experience in Design Build / P3 Healthcare projects specific to distribution, fire alarm, and lighting is required.
Applicants must include a detailed project list with resume submission.
- Design Build Construction related experience, ideally completing a full cycle P3 project, is a definite asset.
- Experience with various Low Voltage systems (e.g. Security, IT Systems, Nurse Call) preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant building and electrical codes / standards (e.g. NBCC, OESC, CSA, NFPA, etc.) required.
- Ability to travel, attending meetings with Architects and Consultants required.
- A strong understanding of how design decisions impact cost is required.
- Strong decision-making ability for estimate development continuation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Accubid Pro and / or Enterprise considered a definite asset.
- Experience with other building types (Office Towers, Courthouses, Data Centres), Transit / Rail, and / or multi-discipline experience considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and NMS specifications considered an asset.
